Dances of Aliveness and Presence – Skinner Releasing Technique

Workshop SRT as part of WinterTanz at Tanzfabrik

Date:

Location: Berlin

During these 4 morning classes we will engage with the basic principles of Skinner Releasing as a way to access the intuitive and poetic body in motion.
The duration of 3-hours gives extra time and space to get fully immersed in one's dancing, rooted in aliveness and presence.

Offering an introduction into the basic material of the Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) this workshop is especially for those who are new to SRT and would like to experience it.
For people who are already familiar with SRT it is an opportunity to return to the basics and deepen their practice. Be welcome!

Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) is an integrative approach to movement developed by American dance artist Joan Skinner. It is recognized as a significant way to experience and empower the creative self in the act of dancing, tapping into one’s own imagination, intuition and wisdom.
SRT stimulates the process of letting go of unnecessary tension, releasing new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance. Poetic imagery and hands-on studies facilitate deep and more nuanced kinaesthetic experience of movement.
Noticing as a first step for change and allowing movement to happen are key to this practice that provides specific tools to access effortlessness and multi-directional alignment, depth, presence and freedom in movement and stillness.
