The privilege of sharing

2024 started right away with 4 workshops I was invited to in Germany, Czech Republic and Switzerland to share Joan Skinner's work with different dance communities.
A 4-day course as part of Wintertanz at Tanzfabrik Berlin with 22 dancers was followed by a week of teaching for Tanzwerk Kassel in the beautiful studio of SOZO visions in motion.Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Czech Culture I could work 4 days in February 4 days with a wonderful group of students, faculty members and professional dancers at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU) in Prague before leaving to Bern to teach a weekend workshop at akar Zeitgenössischer Tanz.
In each of these courses, it has been a gift to witness the profound and transformative impact of Joan's poetic imagery and the principles of her dance and movement practice on participants. What incredible life force can be unleashed through openness, playfulness and the willingness to let something happen instead of controlling it.
The many dances that were danced in the different studios still resonate with me and I realize what a great privilege it is to be able to pass on Joan's practice.
